Postdoctoral Fellow - Cardiovascular Biology

The Gladwin lab in the Vascular Medicine Institute at the University of Pittsburgh seeks an enthusiastic, thoughtful scientist to join our extensive and multidisciplinary team. We use mice and zebrafish models and we employ classic and innovative molecular biology and biochemistry approaches to investigate the mechanisms of nitric oxide signaling and the function of cellular globins in the cardiovascular system and during development. We seek a highly motivated and talented scientist to join our enthusiastic, collaborative, and diverse team in an outstanding scientific environment to take part in our exciting research.

The successful applicants will hold a PhD in a relevant research area such as molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry and strong track record of accomplishment. Prior experience in molecular and cell biology or biochemistry is ideal. Expertise in any of the following areas is valued but nor required: developmental biology, gene editing, imaging, zebrafish and mouse models.

The Vascular Medicine Institute at the University of Pittsburgh was founded in 2008 under the leadership of Dr. Mark Gladwin with the aim to understand fundamental mechanisms of cardiovascular biology with translational applications. Equipped with the state-of-the-art technology and excellent core facilities, to which the successful candidate will have access, the institute provides outstanding research opportunity for its scientists. The institute also offers an outstanding postdoctoral training program that, beyond individualized mentorship by core VMI faculty, includes mentorship in career development grant writing, presentation skills and provides opportunities for collaboration and networking with researchers within and outside the university.

We value diversity and minorities. Interested applicants should send a CV, contact information for 3 references, and a cover letter with research interests and career goals to Dr. Paola Corti: pac47@pitt.edu
