MITRE has an opportunity for a Senior / Lead Economist to support the growth of our portfolio of economics work across diverse sponsors in the U.S. Government. The position will work in a multidisciplinary environment with a collegial team of applied economists who provide an analytic basis for decision-making in multiple topic areas, including aviation, transportation, international trade, international finance, critical technologies, and climate change.
Expect a team environment with self-motivated, highly trained professionals. This is an applied research environment where tasks are rarely routine and often require novel approaches.
Typical projects for this position include:
* Policy assessment.
* Cost-benefit analysis.
* Custom research using advanced econometric techniques (time series, panel, discrete choice, reduced form causal inference, structural modelling, etc.).
* Outstanding communication skills will be used to present research results as actionable / practical solutions.
Minimum Qualifications:
* PhD/PhD candidate in Economics.
* U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance are also required.
* Demonstrated understanding of advanced econometric techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Preference given to qualified candidates with an active clearance.
* Experience in industrial organization, supply chains, environmental economics, aviation, transportation, international trade, finance, financial regulation, and/or international finance experience is desired.
