Job Description The Community Builders launched their Strategic Plan 2020-2024 this fall. To achieve the set goals, the leadership team is determined to undertake strong initiatives allowing us to develop healthy affordable housing and create strong neighborhoods. This would require TCB to understand the changing environment in the current context of climate change, racial equity and the pandemic. The associate will aim at bridging the practice and current market trends. The candidate will work closely with the leadership team to help develop studies and research projects related to affordability, sustainability, and social impact. The individual will support the Special Projects Associate in the design, implementation, and management of case studies and strategies. The ideal candidate will have the flexibility and capacity to work on a wide variety of projects and the demonstrated ability to work well with cross-functional teams. Were looking for candidates who care deeply about the environment, affordable housing and are ready to make a difference now. Key Tasks will include: * Provide research, analytics and graphics support for the Taskforces development and facilitation. Examples include conducting interviews, surveys and site inspections concerning factors that carbon emissions, energy consumption, design development and construction practices. * Designing strategies to combat climate change at varied scales. * Identifying and evaluating opportunities for resource reductions (e.g., water efficiency, water reuse/recycling, water replenishment) * Research existing social impact calculators and their application to our work. * Researching leading sustainability programs, policies, funding opportunities and initiatives. Qualifications In order to be considered for the position, you must be: * Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelors degree in Statistics, Urban Studies, the Social Sciences, Sustainability or a related field supplemented by an equivalent combination of education, training and experience provided that the minimum degree requirement is met. Preferred Skills * Passionate about sustainability, circular economy and public housing. * Well-developed interpersonal skills, maturity, credibility, confidence, and integrity * Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate results via Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and related software and craft compelling presentations and reports * Ability to develop and present analyses using programs including Microsoft Excel, Arc GIS, and R Studio * Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects/project teams concurrently, and manage time efficiently * Ability to collaborate remotely across geographies and platforms Time Commitment This position is designed to support two task forces Neighborhood Impact and Climate Taskforce up to Dec 2022.
