As the AAV Vector Biology and Engineering Lead you will oversee a small team to advance gene editing platform and pipeline. This role will apply new approaches to engineer and optimize AAV payloads for gene editing. This role is cross-functional and will work closely with team members in groups across the organization including disease biology, pre-clinical, manufacturing, and bioinformatics.

Key responsibilities include:
- Manage and mentor a team working on AAV construct optimization and design
- Develop assays for validating and optimizing Client vectors in vitro and in vivo
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and advance Client vectors into clinical pipeline
- Work closely with key industry and academic partners
- Present scientific plans and data to project teams and senior leadership
- Manage collaborations with CROs and academic/industry partnerships, and facilitate technology/method transfer
About You:

The ideal candidate thrives on working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, displays outstanding communication skills, and is passionate about pioneering new gene-editing technologies to treat human disease. Other important qualities include:
- Ph.D. in Molecular/Cell Biology, Genetics, Virology, Synthetic Biology, Bioengineering, or a closely related field
- Experience with one or more of the following:
- Design and delivery of viral or non-viral vectors
- Virus/Host interactions and immunogenicity
- Gene editing technologies such as CRISPR/Cas9
- AAV delivery and biodistribution in pre-clinical models
- Design and delivery of viral or non-viral vectors
- Familiarity with state-of-the-art AAV research-grade production and analytical methods
- Excellent bench skills with attention to detail and high standards for data integrity and quality
- Hands-on experience with molecular biology methods with a desire to validate and implement new techniques
