The Protein BioSciences group at the Lilly Biotechnology Center in San Diego seeks a hardworking scientist with experience in protein mass spectrometry to join a team responsible for the expression, purification, and characterization of protein therapeutics. We need someone with knowledge and hands-on experience with peptide and protein mass spectrometry. The primary focus of this position will be to use your mass spectrometry skills for characterization of proteins and protein:protein complexes, via the application of Hydrogen/Deuterium exchange mass spectrometry (HDXMS). You may also perform protein characterization using other analytical and biophysical techniques to support HDXMS experiments as necessary. We are part of a larger protein engineering group focused on making a difference in research, patients and our communities.

Responsibilities
Use, maintain, and troubleshoot high end Mass spectrometry systems (specifically Waters instruments), HPLCs, high through put liquid handling and robotics systems such as TECAN and LEAP PAL.Disseminate results to project teams and legal groups in a clear and concise manner.Cross train and help with other MS techniques to characterize antibody therapeutics as needed.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelors in chemistry, biochemistry or a similar field with at least two years' post graduate experience or Master's degree with appropriate training

Additional Skills/Preferences
Research experience working with proteins and basic biochemistryStrong teammate with excellent communication skills.

Familiarity or experience in the following would be considered advantageous:
LC-MS-MS or HDXMS, especially with Waters mass spectrometry systems, HPLC and software.Experience with automated liquid handling.Some familiarity with the understanding or characterization of protein structure and dynamicsAdditional experience in other analytical or biophysical techniques.
