Position Summary
The EHS Manager has extensive knowledge of and provides for the development and implementation of programs and systems to comply with federal, state and local EH&S regulations, and company policies, strategies, initiatives, and goals. Establishes systems for the monitoring of workplace safety risks and environmental impacts through the analysis of work processes, materials, equipment, and work habits of employees. Identifies potential and actual areas of non-compliance through audits and inspections. Ensures appropriate corrective action is taken to address safety issues. Develops and implements EHS training programs for employees and visitors.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities
1. Facilitate compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, company EHS policies, all permit requirements, and oversight and/or submittal of required periodic reports to regulatory agencies.
2. Conduct hazard evaluations of jobs and processes and perform routine inspections of facilities and operations for unsafe conditions and work practices, and make recommendations to reduce/eliminate incident occurrences.
3. Perform workplace inspections to detect existing/potential chemical, biological and radiological hazards.
4. Ensure readiness for EHS related inspections by government/regulatory agencies
5. Coordinate and conduct EHS training programs for employees and contractors such as HAZCOM, blood borne pathogens, fire protection and prevention, DOT HAZMAT, confined space entry, high work etc..
6. Manage and maintain EHS programs.
7. Conduct accident investigations and follow-up including recommendations for corrective actions.
8. Prepare OSHA 300 submittals for injuries, illnesses and incidents.
9. Apply EHS theories and concepts using independent judgment to develop and implement practical solutions to identified issues.
10. Facilitate Safety committee activities.
11. Establish performing and reporting metrics pertinent to EHS activities.
12. Respond to emergency situations such as chemical spills, during business hours as well as after-hours including nights and weekends.
Minimum Job Requirements
Work Experience:
Five years experience with three years management/supervisory experience.
Education and Training:
Bachelors Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Environmental Management, Industrial Safety, or related field
Skills:
1. Demonstrate experience and aptitude allowing for autonomous work
2. Attention to detail and ability to pursue issues to resolution
3. Ability to drive a culture of safety and influence safe operations
4. Effective oral and written communication skills.
5. Computer skills, ie., Excel, Microsoft Word, Chromatography Data System software.

Pay: $85,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
