This position is preferably based in West Palm Beach at our corporate headquarters, but we would consider an office in one of our other facilities. Travel required.Job Description:The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager - Operations is responsible for developing and maintaining a culture that drives continuous improvement of safety, health, and environmental excellence. He/She is responsible for all EHS programs, activities, and control measures for the distribution network and private fleet. This individual will also be accountable for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements related to occupational health, safety, and environmental compliance. The role maintains compliance with all DOT regulations and coordinates safety training and related activities.Included in the position's purview is working with operations management, and team members to ensure safety and environmental compliance including liquid storage and fire safety. This role serves as the key catalyst in efforts to reduce and eliminate the frequency and severity of injuries through timely and effective investigation, awareness, and training programs. Supervisory Responsibilities:None.Duties/Responsibilities:Work directly with site leadership to develop and implement a site strategy for improving and sustaining EHS regulatory compliance and risk.Complete responsibility for the corporate EHS Program.Provide leadership support for effective implementation of EHS standards and programs at the site level.Document, communicate and reinforce procedures and policies that ensure safety is the top priority across 24 distribution facilities nationally. Includes material handling, product storage, lifting, loading and unloading, etc.Responsible for all regulatory, internal and external data, reporting by documenting, recording, tracking, investigating any work-related lost-time or injury related incidents and communicate findings, suggestions, and improvements company wide.Recommend repair or replacement of equipment most likely to cause personal injury or shut down in operation.Coordinates with local, state, and federal agencies (OSHA, EPA, DOT, Fire Department, etc.) guidelines and mandates regarding safety in the workplace.Hazardous material training and tracking (communications, chemical hygiene, work implementation planning)Understand liquid storage room requirements and local Fire safety codes. Assist in new room development and construction as needed.Track and update SDS and waste profile records pertaining to new chemicals and hazardous waste.Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections.Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics.Manage hazardous waste tracking and reporting, including quarterly and biennial reports to state authorities.Draft's inspection reports to document inspection findings.Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required.Performs other related duties as assigned.Required Skills/Abilities:Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policiesExtensive Knowledge of OSHA / EPA / DOT regulationsBasic knowledge of industrial lift operations, respirators, and other major safety standards is preferredKnowledge and understanding of safety concepts, foundations, principles, and techniques of risk control, as applied to an occupational settingStrong leadership and interpersonal skillsExcellent communication skills, both oral and writtenStrong presentation skillsExtensive knowledge of hazardous material storage regulations and best practices including designing flammable storage infrastructureExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organizational skills and attention to detailProficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspectionsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar softwareEducation and Experience:Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required. Master's degree preferred.HSE certifications preferredExperience in distribution center and logistics operations required.Seven years of experience in the EHS field within the manufacturing, chemical or flammable materials distribution space. Flammable liquids, aerosol storage and transportation experience required.Physical Requirements:Physically able to conduct inspections and carry equipment used for inspections.Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.Travel required 50% of time.
