Precision Science has an opening for an EHS Coordinator. The position will report to the Chief Operating Officer. This individual will be the primary point of contact for all matters related to Precision Science's environmental, health and safety efforts to ensure environmentally sustainable business practices in addition to a clean, safe, and healthful working environment.SKILLS/ABILITIES:Knowledge of complex federal, state, and county regulations pertaining to occupational safety and health, industrial hygiene, hazardous waste, ergonomics, and emergency management.Knowledge of Process Safety Management principles with emphasis of control for dust explosivity hazards.Must be able to identify and resolve problems in situations where clear guidelines are lacking.Must be able to demonstrate the ability to quickly analyze information, research and make effective recommendations on a wide variety of subjects.Must have excellent written and communications skills.Requires working knowledge of chemistry, health physics, hazardous waste, safety, industrial hygiene, and workers' compensation.Knowledge of emergency management and response procedures is required.Requires knowledge of computers and ability to learn new software.Ability to conduct accident/injury investigation, safety inspection and job safety analysis.KEY DUTIES:Ensure that the organization complies with applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, regulations, etc. pertaining to the environment, health, and safety, including the development and implementation of written programs required by established and future standards.Establish a formal program to administer the facility hazard evaluation activities and process safety programWork with consultants to coordinate for combustible dust hazard testing and implement cost-effective control of hazardsDevelop appropriate employee training in fire and explosion hazards, equipment, and administrative controls.Provide guidance, consultation, and assistance to management and others on developing, distributing, and enforcing policies and procedures for the organization regarding the environment, health, and safety.Determine occupational safety and health training requirements for the organization, and develop, organize, and present appropriate training to employees.Maintain a Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure (SPCC) plan; work with Operations and Maintenance to install and maintain necessary control measures; ensure SOPs are SPCC compliantConduct or coordinate biannual calibration and testing of all oxygen deficiency monitorsRespond to complaints, conduct investigations, and recommend solutions to minimize safety and health problems to management.Maintain the safety training manual including emergency response plan.Coordinate with Quality Control Laboratory Manager to develop and maintain a chemical hygiene plan and ensure compliance with best practices for laboratory safety.Work with insurance representatives to complete best practices or recommendations.Facilitate, organize, and participate our company safety committee. Provide guidance and expertise while serving as an ex-officio member of the committee.Coordinate with HR to maintain OSHA records, perform incident investigations, and provide follow-up with employees after an accident.Develop an internal EHS audit program; work with consultants to complete annual external audits.Administer the hazardous waste management program, with the help of outside vendors, for the organization according to RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act) and the State of Arizona regulations. Interpret and apply the regulations to ensure compliance.Establish and maintain an effective waste minimization program according to RCRA requirements.Administer the universal waste management program for the disposal of contaminated product, pesticides, and other according to state and federal regulations.Coordinate the respiratory protection program for the organization.Coordinate the Hazard Communication program: maintain the inventory of hazardous chemicals within the organization and ensure that all departments maintain the SDSs (Safety Data Sheets) for their respective areas. Such as the laboratory, production, and maintenanceServe as the emergency contact for Precision Science and coordinate emergency response efforts including the emergency notification system. Implement policies and procedures for Precision Science emergency management programs.Organize and conduct annual evacuation drills and other exercises as needed.Coordinate biennial industrial hygiene testing.Other duties as assigned.
