About the position
We are seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team as an In Vivo Biology Scientist to carry on preclinical research for drug discovery. The qualified candidate is a highly motivated, interactive, and team-oriented individual that possesses the ability to work across a highly matrixed environment to provide technical and scientific in vivo expertise to advance drug discovery programs for the treatment of aging related diseases with high unmet medical need. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a rapidly growing company developing a pipeline of therapies with the potential to enhance healthspan and lifespan in an aging population.
Job Requirements:
Responsibilities:
· Perform BioAge's internal preclinical aging assays using our frailty validation platform
· Develop high quality and reproducible animal models for efficacy and mechanism of action studies for small molecule and biologic therapeutics, in close collaboration with therapeutic area teams, pharmacology, medicinal chemistry, preclinical safety, DMPK, etc
· Perform Hands-on properly controlled experiments that generate high quality data; In-vivo technical skills, such as dosing of test substances (IP/IV/PO/SC/IM/IT/IN, etc), bleeding (submandibular/tail vein/cardiac), performing euthanasia and necropsy of laboratory mice, as necessary.
· Conduct survival surgeries to establish various rodent models using aseptic techniques; experience in behavioral tests desired.
· Closely follow study designs and IACUC protocols
· Maintain detailed records of measurements, observations, and other required data of various models
· Responsible for data review, analysis, and interpretation from a variety of sources to enable program go/no-go decisions
· Demonstrate the ability to manage multiple in vivo experiments simultaneously
· Manage and observe animals for general health and overall wellbeing, maintain a clean and safe vivarium environment
· Working together in a team environment towards the goals of our therapeutics programs.
· DVM or PhD with at least 2 years of in vivo biology experience in drug discovery, or BS or MS with 5 years of hands-on in vivo biology experience will be required.
· Strong understanding of development of animal models and general physiology in a drug discovery setting
· Excellent hands-on in-vivo technical skills are necessary.
· Highly organized and detail oriented and able to work both independently and as part of a team
· Experience in data analysis and visualization with Excel and Prism and presentation to a cross- functional team
· Excellent communicator with exceptional verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
· Excellent working ability across a highly matrixed environment
· Some expertise in aging/and/or age-related diseases/disorders in animal models preferred
