Job Description:
  • Develops, implements and evaluates safety policies and procedures and may be involved in the compliance and ensures product EHS
  • Provides leadership and technical expertise in the development of strategies, programs and training to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations and company standards, improve safety and reduce/eliminate EHS related business risks
  • Interfaces with external EHS agencies


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Partners with business/functional/EBS leaders on the development and implementation of action plans that drive closure of open issues and improvements resulting in improved safety performance and environmental controls
  • Occupational Health roles that are internally-oriented medical professionals that provide for and deliver health and safety programs and services to workers, worker populations, and community groups should be assigned to this job family
  • Manage Title V air permits, Large quantity generator hazardous waste management , DOT regulations and EPCRA Form R reports
  • Plans and implements health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations
  • Plans and implements environmental programs and prepares/submits environmental reports in compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations
  • Plans and implements programs to train managers and associates in work site safety practices, fire prevention, personal protective equipment, and various EHS policies and programs
  • Identifies and suggests corrective measures to improve site's accident experience and to suggest/implement means to achieve site EHS goals
  • Ensures that mandatory OSHA reporting is completed - i.e.: annual OSHA 300 log, notification of serious accident etc.
  • Inspects facility to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented
  • Investigates employee Environmental, Health and Safety complaints, discusses findings and recommends possible solutions in a timely manner
  • Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions
  • Leads the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations
  • Manages the environmental program (hazardous waste program, storm water program, wastewater monitoring, air quality reporting, acting as a liaison with local regulatory agencies, ensuring submission of applicable monthly, periodic, and annual environmental reports, working with Corporate EHS personnel on a frequent basis)
  • Conducts industrial hygiene sampling for a variety of physical and chemical hazards. As necessary, contract specialized industrial hygiene work to a qualified third party. Prepares and files corresponding documentation for easy retrieval and demonstration of monitoring compliance
  • Compiles and submits accident reports required by regulatory agencies
  • Manages the sites of workers' compensation program
  • Prepares and arranges EHS exhibits, presentations and material for display, meetings, conferences, or exhibitions
  • Represents the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs
  • Maintains EHS files and records
  • Interacts with EHS regulatory agencies during site inspections (when possible); provides guidance to satellite sites on EHS regulatory inspections
  • Provide applicable EHS training to new hires and other EHS training for specific programs
  • Supports the Corporate EHS program and direction
  • Anticipated travel of up to 15%
  • Other duties may be assigned, in addition to those identified above


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Directly supervises one employee
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university in EHS or related field; and at least five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
