This company is in the clinic and seeking your expertise in guiding biology and biomarker strategy for multiple drug discovery programs. In your duties you'll gather data and inform on-target mechanism of action and explore and validate translational research hypotheses. In this role you will work on guiding projects from early research through clinical development of small molecule and antibody programs. You also will be relied upon to establish and develop strong relationships with key cross functional partner functions including clinical operations, clinical development, Chemistry, DMPK, biostatistics, medical writing, and regulatory peers and consultants through efficient communication and teamwork. Responsibilities:
• Work with Head of Biology to design and execute on Biology and Biomarker strategy and assay development in a variety of disease-focused programs
• Provide biology leadership for drug discovery project teams
• Ensure efficient progression of drug discovery projects by managing the activities of multiple CROs in collaboration with project team members internally and network of consultants
• Identify and work with contract research organizations (CROs), consultants, and academic collaborators to design and execute studies to demonstrate proof of concept and mechanism of action (MOA) studies
• Design and oversee in vitro and in vivo studies to demonstrate efficacy, discover and validate pathways and biomarkers associated with mechanism of action and drug response
• Collaborate and contribute to multi-disciplinary drug development teams
• Contribute to IND-enabling studies and author written sections of IND filings in coordination with team members
• Present results to internal and external audiences including leadership team, board, partners, and at relevant scientific conferences
Requirements:
• Ph.D. with 5+ years, or M.S. with 10+ years, of experience in the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry
• Expertise in disease areas of inflammation including chronic kidney disease, inflammatory bowel disease, hematology, or Anemia research is preferred
• Domain knowledge in hematology, inflammatory diseases, or anemia research is preferred
• Demonstrated expertise in molecular and cell biology and also in vivo efficacy studies
• Experience in managing CROs and consultants in a virtual biopharma setting
• Collaborative team-first mentality with ability to contribute and guide teams with discovery and translational assay development insights
• Ability to work in a fast-paced biotech environment and adapt to changing demands
