The Position:

We are seeking a highly motivated Biology Director with strong leadership and interpersonal skills to join our team in a full-time role focused leading our biology research and operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Extensive experience leading the in vitro and in vivo pharmacology aspects of immuno-oncology drug discovery and development from target biology and validation to IND-enabling studies.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead and advance Immunology/Immuno-oncology programs and work effectively across multi-functional groups.
  • Thorough knowledge of immunological principles and concepts.
  • Design and execute/conduct in vivo studies (e.g. syngeneic, humanized mouse models, GEMMs, adoptive transfer systems) aimed at drug discovery in the immuno-oncology space.
  • Execute in vitro and secondary ex vivo cell-based assays across various technology platforms (e.g. flow cytometry, imaging, IO-related culture systems).
  • Experience with tumor associated immune cell-based functional assays (activation, differentiation, proliferation, suppression, migration, target cell killing), cytokine analysis, primary cell isolation and differentiation, basic molecular biology (ELISA, two-site ELISA, western blot) and tissue culture techniques.
  • Experience drafting preclinical research reports and preclinical IND sections is a plus.
  • Extensive experience with engaging and managing external research efforts with contract research organizations, as well as with academic collaborators.
  • Work closely with the Protein Engineering, Antibody Discovery, Analytics, and Bioprocess groups to plan and implement candidate antibody generation, translational research, and cell line development.
  • Interface with external partners, clinical and academic collaborators, and CROs.

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in biology and 8-10+ years of industry experience
  • Deep knowledge of immuno-oncology, immunotherapy and tumor biology
  • Scientific leadership abilities and collaborative personality.
  • Track record of success working in a multidisciplinary research environment
  • Proven ability to communicate and collaborate in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Driven to learn and develop in a biopharmaceutical research setting as a member of an interdisciplinary research team
  • Entrepreneurial personality, with problem solving skills, critical thinking ability, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly motivated and independent with an ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
