The position may be based in the Portland or Seattle areas, but will report into the Chemistry team in Portland. The chemistxe2x80x99s primary initial role will be to validate analytical data, write data validation reports, and help prepare QAPPs.xc2xa0 There is also the possibility of database management or field work if the need arises.nxc2xa0nThis position offers an excellent opportunity to transition from the laboratory environment to consulting. The right person with the right drive and attitude can grow into non-data validation roles including field work, project management or other technical roles over time.nKey initial responsibilities includen * Analytical data validation, data review and report writingn * Development of environmental sampling programs, interpretation of environmental chemistry data and data quality evaluation (DQE)n * Data forensics, assistance with laboratory coordination, and database supportn * Assist proposal teams with selection of analytical methodology, evaluate laboratory proposals, and establish QA/QC parametersn * Will need to coordinate with Project / Senior Chemists on a daily basis, and support Principal Chemist for special projectsn * Work with laboratories to ensure data meets client requirements and project data quality objectivesn * Keep accurate track of time billed to each projectnSKILLS / QUALIFICATIONSnRole Requirements and Preferencesn * S./B.A. in Chemistry or related field required (BS Chem strongly preferred but not essential)n * 1 to 5 years working in an environmental analytical laboratory requiredn * Experience writing analytical standard operating proceduresn * Familiarity with USEPA analytical Methods especially SW-846-series methodsn * Experience with operation and use of analytical laboratory equipment (e.g., ICP, ICP-MS, HPLC, GC, and/or GC/MS) is preferredn * Knowledge of the principles and standards of scientific study, field investigation, sampling, experimentation, quality assurance of chemical measurements, research and documentationn * Strong interpersonal and technical writing skills are critical (technical writing course may be required during first year of employment if warranted)n * Ability to work effectively with team members as well as independentlyn * Must be able to pass a drug testn * Familiarity with Department of Defense Quality Systems Manual for Environmental Laboratories Version 5.3 is a plusn * Familiarity with Department of Defense Data Validation Guidelines and Modules is a plusn * Familiarity with Earth Softxe2x80x99s EQuIS database program is a plusnAdditional Requirements if Field Work is Desiredn * 40 hour HAZWOPERn * Need to be able to move and lift equipment that may weigh 40 lbsn * Must pass background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policynCOMPANY OVERVIEWnWood is a global leader in engineering and consultancy across energy and the built environment, helping to unlock solutions to some of the worldxe2x80x99s most critical challenges.
