The [Department of Cell Biology](http://med.virginia.edu/cell-biology/) at the University of Virginia School of Medicine seek exceptional candidates for an Open Rank Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Cell Biology position on the Academic Investigator track. This is a tenure-eligible, Independent Investigator faculty position dedicated to the University of Virginia's teaching and research missions. Rank is commensurate with experience and level of accomplishment.
Successful candidates will be expected to lead an extramurally funded research program focused on addressing fundamental mechanisms of cellular and developmental biology using cutting-edge approaches such as advanced live-cell and embryo imaging, gene-editing and genome-level bioinformatic analyses. The candidate will also be expected to be a collaborating member of the emerging Developmental Genomics Center at UVA that focuses on defining the genetic defects underlying pediatric patients with developmental disorders. Preference will be given to candidates who have served as Principal Investigator on NIH K99/R00, R01 or equivalent extramural grants. Candidates will be expected to participate in the teaching of medical and/or graduate students, and the mentorship of pre-doctoral trainees.

*Minimum Requirements*
Education: PhD is required.
Experience: A minimum of three year' postdoctoral or equivalent research experience in cell and developmental biology is required. Position requires a history of research publications and demonstrable, strong commitment to education and scholarship.
This is a restricted position; continuation is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.
