Overview
Exo Therapeutics seeks a strong leader to oversee our Early target biology efforts and provide strategic and technical expertise for Exo's research portfolio. You will be an integral part of the biology leadership team and working cross functionally to drive target identification and validation. You will work closely with the bioinformatics, computational biology, Data sciences and the broad platform team to mine databases and identify new opportunities to drug exosites on targets of interest to inhibit disease relevant biology. You will have the opportunity to interface with all levels of our organization to deliver scientific excellence, as we expand the boundaries of research for patients.

Responsibilities
- Leading a group tasked with developing and implementing strategies to identify and validate targets prior to portfolio entry across Exo's Therapeutic Areas, including oncology, autoimmune diseases, and rare diseases
- Work closely with the platform team to bring new targets to the portfolio with strategic value of targeting exosites for better therapeutic window or opportunities to drug intractable targets
- Work with the other cross functional teams, including bioinformatics, biochemistry, chemical biology, screening, and chemistry to validate targets of interest for nomination into the portfolio
- Actively mentor and develop outstanding scientists to fostering a culture of engagement and scientific rigor
- Be accountable for devising and championing the development and application of state-of-the-art approaches for target identification alongside the bioinformatics and computational chemistry teams
- Develop and implement technologies needed for target validation, including CRISPR/Cas9, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq, single cell RNA-seq and others as needed for validating targets of interest
- Participate in the global scientific community through attendance at scientific conferences and publication of novel research findings in peer-reviewed, high-quality journals
Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. with 10+ years of experience in biology, with 5+ years spent in identifying new targets for the portfolio
- Deep expertise in oncology disease targets/pathways, understanding their relevance and identifying systems for their validation
- Strong understanding of functional genomics approaches and its role in the target validation
- Experience in working with bioinformatics group to mine genomics, gene expression, CRISPR and other databases for identification of new targets
- Good understanding of development challenges/opportunities for other relevant therapeutic areas such as autoimmunity or rare diseases is a plus
- Previous experience of effective team-leading is highly desirable.
- Ability to successfully participate in a highly creative and enthusiastic start-up environment
