Overview
The Senior Microbiologist will be responsible for managing projects, directing junior level scientists and providing technical guidance and training to fellow team members. In this role the incumbent will execute and work directly with method development, method suitability and data review. Senior Scientists are expected to perform bench work as needed in addition to project responsibilities.

The Research Triangle Park (RTP) facility is Catalent's Center of Excellence for Analytical Services and is also home to Catalent's Inhalation franchise including product development, clinical and commercial manufacturing for pMDI, DPI and Nasal Sprays.
The Role
* Responsible as Project Director on multiple projects, with responsibility for project outcome and customer interaction, including developing customer relationship to grow business
* Usually assisted by laboratory technicians/associates
* Demonstrates potential for technical proficiency and scientific creativity through broad assignments
* Appreciable latitude for unreviewed action or decision
* Responsible for setting and defining technical objectives and assessing results
* Develop and execute laboratory work plans/schedules for self and junior members of team, using customer milestones and Division/Site performance standards and metrics
* Authors and may approve technical documents, such as protocols, test methods, text reports, certificates of analysis, and operating procedures
* Review technical documents for accuracy, thoroughness and regulatory compliance
The Candidate
* Degree in Microbiology or closely related physical science: Bachelor's degree with 9-10 years related experience, Master's degree with 6-8 years related experience, or Doctorate degree with 2-4 years related experience
* Method development, suitability and validation experience is required
* The ideal candidate will have previous project leadership experience
* Experience in Endotoxin, Microbial Enumeration Testing (USP 61/62), Sterility and Bioburden is ideal
* Must have experience within pharma/biopharma in a cGMP environment
* Ability to execute procedures and methods independently and comply with all regulations.
* Has developed troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
* Physical Requirements: Individual may be required to sit, stand, walk regularly and occasionally lift 0-15 pounds; Specific vision requirements including reading of written documents and use of computer monitor screen frequently
