Overview:
As the Environmental and Chemical Specialist, you will maintain compliance and provide expert Safety support to management in Environmental and Chemical safety issues.
Responsibilities:
Develops, implements, and monitors the continuous improvement of the company's Environmental waste management programs
Performs routine industrial and hazardous waste management activities such as waste inventories, vendor scheduling, waste hauling oversight (on-sight and off-site), manifest and profile management
Researches and identifies alternative outlets for damaged freight
Monitors and maintains compliance with Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasures plans (SPCC) and Storm Water Protection Plans (SWPP)
Works with vendors to develop and update SPCC, SWPP, and RCRA contingency plans as needed
Reviews and tracks discrepancies with hazardous materials shipping papers
Authority to formulate, affect, interpret, or implement Safety management policies or operating practices
Completes Annual Reporting to Government Agencies including EPCRA Tier II and RCRA annual reports
Determines tools and resources to be used in Operations in regards to safety and compliances
Determines merchandise to be bought, stocked, or sold
Investigates and Completes Findings on chemical spills
Monitors and implements legal compliance measures
Provides safety and security for employees
Sends Safety materials to Service Centers as needed
Maintains high level of confidentiality and professionalism
Completes other Safety related tasks as directed
Qualifications:
years experience in environmental health and safety or related field, and/or experience in the LTL industry
Experience and understanding of accepted loss prevention and safety practices
Working knowledge of SPCC and SWPP rules and regulations
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and typing skills
Great communication skills written and verbal
Professional certifications (i.e.: CDS, CSS, or other recognized certifications) preferred
