Director/Sr.Director, Translational Biology - Neuroscience Discovery biology · Cambridge, Massachusetts

Remix Therapeutics is a company focused on discovering modulators of RNA processing for undruggable disease drivers with the promise to bring new medicines to patients. We are developing a suite of proprietary platform technologies that transform our ability to design and develop therapeutics that can selectively modulate various steps of RNA processing biology. Position Summary:

We seek a highly motivated biologist to join our growing team in Cambridge, MA. This position will report to the Senior Vice President of Translational Biology and will be responsible for 1) Prioritizing and credentialing drug targets for neurodegenerative and neuromuscular diseases; 2) Co-leading a multidisciplinary team tasked with driving an early drug discovery program to the clinic. The role will involve both direct management of junior scientists, as well as management of external (CRO) resources. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in neuroscience, neurodegenerative disease, translational biology, and drug discovery; and will be driven to succeed within a hypothesis-driven, team-oriented, and interdisciplinary biotech environment. The individual will be expected to contribute to all stages of drug discovery programs, from target to clinic.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Co-lead interdisciplinary project teams and work with a team of scientists to progress projects from target selection and validation through candidate selection
  • Work with project team to devise a robust and efficient LO cascade, including relevant cellular and in vivo models
  • Work with a project team to drive multiparametric lead optimization of small molecule therapeutics
  • Coordinate both internal and external (CRO) activities supporting programmatic drug discovery activities
  • Collaborate with key stake holders to devise early clinical development path, including biomarker strategy and opportunities for accelerated approval.
  • Interface with external KOLs for input on disease hypothesis, translational models, clinical and regulatory landscape
  • Possess a clear and effective communication style
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with colleagues in chemistry, biomolecular sciences, and DMPK
  • Contribute to building the translational biology infrastructure and developing our innovative drug discovery platform

Qualifications
  • D. in cell biology, neurology, neurobiology, or a related field and at least 10 years of relevant drug discovery (industry) experience in neurodegenerative disease.
  • Strong publication record and proven track record of success
  • Previous experience in managing both people and projects
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Previous experience in managing external resources (CROs) is strongly preferred
  • Ability to effectively communicate to diverse audiences
  • Keen attention to detail and a strong sense of urgency is required as is the desire and ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and team-focused environment
