Environmental Health Senior Program Manager

San Juan Basin Public Health (SJBPH) is hiring an Environmental Health Senior Program Manager to oversee regulatory and educational programs in water quality, food safety, and childcare. This position, which may be based out of SJBPH's Pagosa Springs or Durango office as preferred, will supervise a staff of dedicated inspectors, technicians, administrators who enforce state and local regulations and provide technical assistance in the areas of wastewater treatment, drinking water quality, retail food establishments, and childcare facilities. Other subject matter oversight may be added based on funding availability and Board of Health direction. Incumbents are responsible for program budgets, staff and program development, compliance and enforcement action, and preparing items for Board of Health decision. A strong background in legal or regulatory frameworks, writing skills, and staff supervision is critical to success.

The qualifications for this position are a bachelor's degree in environmental health, natural or physical sciences, engineering, public policy, or a related field, and five years of related experience with at least one year as an Environmental Health Specialist III or equivalent; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This is a full-time exempt position.
