Our Company is currently seeking an exceptional chemical biologist to join the Chemical Biology Leadership Team located at our Cambridge, MA site. The successful candidate will have broad responsibilities in three interconnected areas - talent, strategy & pipeline.

In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for the performance, mentorship, and professional development of a team of 20-40 scientists, including people managers, project leaders, scientific mentors, and individual contributors.Through leadership of this group and close collaboration with partner functions across our Global Discovery Network, th e successful candidate will play a pivotal role in the application of existing interdisciplinary state-of-the-art Chemical Biology capabilities as well as enabling the build of new capabilities to continue to shape our early discovery portfolio as well as our understanding of the mechanism of action and clinical translation of our pipeline programs/assets. The incumbent will be responsible for the derivation, enablement, implementation, and evolution of strategy as well as for driving decisions on a portfolio of projects/capability builds impacting multiple therapeutic areas and modalities aimed at delivering transformative therapies for significant unmet medical need.

As such, the successful candidate will adeptly provide strategic and operational guidance through direct reports, as well as directly at governance meetings and through leadership of and participation in cross-functional teams and initiatives. To enable all of the above, the successful candidate must have excellent leadership, interpersonal, cross-functional collaboration and communication skills.Furthermore, experience with multiple therapy areas, modalities and enabling technologies is preferred.

In addition, the incumbent will participate in departmental, site and network-wide activities across Discovery and Global Chemistry such as setting strategic direction, prioritizing allocation of resources and managing budgets to align actions with strategy.The incumbent should have an established presence in the scientific community and a record of accomplishment and innovation as evidenced by issued patents, publications and presentations.The successful candidate will translate their background, experience and energy into a commitment to expand the external reputation of members of Chemical Biology, Discovery Chemistry and of our Company's Research Labs as a whole.

Education Requirement:
  • Ph.D. in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related field

Required:
  • 12 Years of experience in drug discovery and proven track record of sustained success in program leadership across multiple therapeutic areas, scientific mentorship or scientific initiative leadership
  • Experience with deriving and implementing integrated innovative Chemical Biology strategies to solve complex problems leading to demonstrable impact on multiple discovery efforts and/or capability builds.
  • Experience in leading multi-disciplinary/partner collaborations to success.
  • Ability to formulate and apply enterprise-wide thinking to drug discovery research endeavors.
  • Recognized internally and externally via a strong publication, presentation and patent inventorship record.
  • Clear ability to lead through influence and collaboration within and across organizational boundaries.
  • Extensive experience with mentoring other scientists.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
