The School of Resource and Environmental Management at Simon Fraser University in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada is an applied graduate and undergraduate school in which both social and natural scientists apply inter- and transdisciplinary approaches to research in resource and environmental management. Our mission is to inspire leadership and improve decision-making in environmental management through internationally recognized research, education, professional practice, and community engagement to support a socially just and ecologically sustainable world. 

We seek to fill a tenure-track faculty position in Applied Terrestrial Ecology at the Assistant Professor rank and invite applications from Ph.D. scientists who will develop an internationally recognized program of research, teaching, and knowledge mobilization in this field. 

(1) Suitable candidates will have a strong background in applied terrestrial ecology with expertise in areas such as applied forest ecology, applied wildlife ecology, landscape ecology, or terrestrial conservation biology.

(2) Special consideration will be given to candidates with research expertise in ecosystem-based management, climate change adaptation, fire ecology and management, systems thinking and resilience, and the intent to research a terrestrial ecosystem in the Pacific Northwest as a component of their research program, in collaboration with Indigenous communities.

(3) Suitable candidates will have experience working across disciplines, collaborating with both natural and social scientists, and engaging with sectors outside academia. Candidates will have experience translating and/or mobilizing their research findings to diverse audiences outside the academy such as policy makers, practitioners, or communities.

The successful candidate will conduct research, supervise graduate students, and practice inclusive teaching in graduate and undergraduate courses including forest ecosystem management, systems thinking, and applied ecology. The expected start date is July 1, 2022.
