Reporting to the Financial Operations Manager, provide leadership and support for the financial management of the Departments of Biochemistry, Nematology, Plant Pathology and Microbiology, and the Center for Conservation Biology. Uses skills as an experienced research administrator to independently develop and/or coordinate research proposals for an assigned portfolio of Principal Investigators. Post award contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional research sponsor policies. Creates proposals and awards of diverse scope where analysis of data require thorough understanding of complex regulations. Creates complex proposals and awards that may involve multiple investigators and/or multiple sub awards. Performs complex budget/resource analysis including forecasting, retrieving data from campus financial systems, organizing and validating data, and the preparation for comprehensive reports for principal management. Participates in the design of department systems and processes to enhance processing and reporting tools. Please note, the budget salary for this position is $55,000 - $85,000. Degree Requirement Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required
Experience Requirement Experience with UC Policies and Procedures. Preferred 4 - 7 years of related experience. Required
Demonstrated knowledge of effective grant funding processes, procedures and techniques.
Demonstrated competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.
Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting, fiscal and reporting principles.
Ability to manage significant volume of transactions.
Ability to maintain independent judgment; strong organization and communication skills; and a customer service focus across broad and diverse subject areas.
Strong writing skills in a variety of styles to draft persuasive text for a variety of audiences while ensuring adherence to funding sponsor's guidelines.
Thorough knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.
Ability to perform complex financial analysis and customized reporting.
Maintains current knowledge of compliance regulations in all areas of research administration.
Thorough understanding of research administration guidelines of Federal and non-Federal sponsors supporting research and educational activities, preferably in a university environment.
