Assistant/Associate Professor of Anatomy, Cell Biology & Physiology
Indiana University School of Medicine-Bloomington is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our physiology education mission and be a part of a cohort of teaching scholars, beginning July 1, 2022. The Assistant/Associate Professor position is a tenure-track appointment within the Department of Anatomy, Cell Biology & Physiology of the IU school of Medicine, with the job responsibilities located at the IUSM-Bloomington campus.
The successful candidate will participate in the teaching of human physiology to undergraduate (baccalaureate) students, graduate students, and medical students. In addition to co-teaching our primary undergraduate physiology course (Physiology P215), the candidate will be encouraged and expected to develop and teach additional anatomy and Physiology course-related offerings, such as comparative physiology or advanced undergraduate coursework. We seek candidates who have experience teaching diverse populations of undergraduate, graduate and/or medical students by creating inclusive classrooms and utilizing innovative pedagogy. The ideal applicant will have a research focus in anatomy, physiology and/or medical education research and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning, as well as a strong commitment to mentor MS and PhD students interested in anatomy and physiology education. Title and rank commensurate with experience.
Minimum qualifications include a Terminal degree PhD in anatomy, physiology, science education or a relevant science-related field is preferred; alternatively, MD or DO degree may be appropriate, depending on post-graduate experience. Demonstrated excellence in teaching human physiology, experience in education research and the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning.
