Summary

The Microbiology Research Associate will join the R&D team working closely with an interdisciplinary team to develop and implement microbiology and molecular biology techniques and concepts.

Description
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative microbiology assays and utilize molecular biology techniques for product development studies involving agricultural biologicals.
  • Perform microbiology and molecular experimental lab work and data analysis to characterize microorganisms that improve crop growth and aid their identification by molecular methods
  • In vitro characterization of microbial properties, such activity and mechanism of action as well as exploring their genetics and genomics

Profile
  • B.S. or M.S. in Microbiology/Molecular Biology or related sciences plus 2-5 years of academic or industry experience
  • Highly skilled and demonstrable success in designing, implementing and analyzing fundamental molecular biology experiments including nucleic acid extraction and quantitation, gel electrophoresis, PCR, and qPCR
  • Strong interest in working at the bench
  • Expertise in microscopy
  • Experienced with Bacterial culture and aseptic technique
  • Organizing and conducting experiments with meticulous record keeping
  • Ability to work independently in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Interest in sustainable agriculture, environment and soil microbiology
