Overview:
PURPOSE:
To complete various microbiological testing methods in a laboratory environment and other duties as directed by Management.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Must document information of the various pieces of equipment; receive samples and verify information on micro samples entering the lab.
Complete calibrations on all instruments on a routine daily basis or as specified.
Communicate with appropriate departments about missing samples or errors.
Prepare samples for microbial analysis including cutting of carrot product and maceration.
Label, inoculate and incubate Petrifilm plates.
Must do interpretation, counting and reading of due Petrifilm plates.
Must keep record and computer logging of microbial results information.
Preparation of solutions and growth media for microbial analysis.
Must handle the sterilization of prepared solutions, growth media and waste materials.
Clean and wash lab materials and other duties as assigned.
Maintain proper application of Work Safety Rules, keep proper interpretation and application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Conduct precise and consistent scientific experimentation on a routine daily basis.
Participate in Laboratory Proficiency Testing.
PHYSICAL REQUIEREMENT:
Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment. Ability to occasionally move about inside the office, food processing facilities. Ability to inspect equipment and product. Must be able to move items weighing up to 30 lbs. occasionally.

Must be trainable in all areas of job description, and have a positive attitude.
Must be willing to work with others and communicate with others to sustain a solid team work environment.
Candidate must be able to complete a skills assessment form .
Must be able to read and understand written information in English.
Must have a valid California driver's license with a clean DMV driving record and have own transportation with acceptable insurance.
Must pass pre-placement drug/alcohol screen.
