Overview:

We are looking for highly motivated structural biologist to work on interdisciplinary projects at the interface of structural biology, biochemistry, biophysics, and molecular biology to study molecular mechanisms of Receptor Tyrosine Kinases (RTKs). The successful candidate takes a leadership role and should be able to independently design and perform complex experiments, analyze data and draft manuscripts. Strong background in cryo-EM, X-ray crystallography, protein chemistry of soluble and membrane proteins and biophysics is required as well as strong background and knowledge in the field of RTK biology. The Department of Structural Biology has access to state-of-the-art cryo-EM (Titan Krios, Talos Arctica and Talos L120C ) and X-ray centers and has an outstanding infrastructure and expertise in NMR spectroscopy, biophysical analysis, proteomics and metabolomics, and single molecule techniques.

Preferred experience

Experience with molecular biology and molecular cloning techniques including subcloning, site-directed mutagenesis, PCR and DNA manipulation is desired.

Experience with a variety of protein expression platforms, including E. coli, insect cell culture and mammalian expression systems.

Expert in protein purification by various chromatographic techniques including but not limited to IMAC, IEC, HIC, SEC etc.

Experience with protein engineering or rational design of recombinant proteins along with characterization techniques (for example MS, SEC-MALs, DSF, DLS, SDS-Page etc.).

Strong track record of scientific accomplishments demonstrated through publications in highly regarded journals.

Outstanding organizational and multi-tasking skills; able to manage several projects going simultaneously.

Maintain familiarity with current scientific literature relevant to the research experiments or project.

An excellent team-player with strong communication skills and a willingness to mentor others.

Responsibilities:

Performs tasks related to the research project independently, but within specific guidelines and subject to regular review by supervisor.

Independently develop and implement construct design, protein purification and biophysical characterization of proteins.

Leverage deep knowledge and hands-on experience with versatile protein purification technologies using established chromatography, FPLC, and HPLC platforms and other analytical methods to ensure the highest quality of lead proteins.

Manages and trains staff as appropriate in laboratory activities.

Present problems and propose solutions in discussions with group members. Offer insights based on experience to group members to help solve existing problems.

Work effectively in a collaborative team environment where results are achieved through influence, cooperation, and the incorporation of multiple points of view.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor's degree in relevant scientific area is required.

Minimum Experience:

Seven (7) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required

Five (5) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a Master's degree

Three (3) years of relevant post-degree work experience is required with a PhD
