Job Description
Job Summary:

The EH&S Specialist role is located at the Associated Packaging, Inc. headquarters in Gallatin, TN. This role will develop and lead the EH&S program for the company to comply with regulatory and customer requirements.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Ensure that the home office and branch operations are in full compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations. Keeps current with applicable regulations that affect our business.

2. Maintain the Safety Program and Manual. Develops, conducts and/or coordinates training of personnel to comply with the requirements of the manual. Ensures employees stay current with required certifications/recertifications such as Fork Lifts. Maintain records.

3. Inspects and audits all facilities to identify safety, health and environmental risks. Develops, prioritizes, and implements improvements to reduce risk.

4. Maintains hazardous material records (disposal, spills, etc)

5. Tracks and reports OSHA 300 & 300A logs for all facilities. Investigates incidents and near misses and facilitates corrective actions where needed. Monitors workers comp claims for impact to the EMR rating (Experience Modification Rating) with a goal of less than 1.0. Facilitates the identification of root causes of claims and works with the branches to implement corrective actions.

6. Facilitates the development of a Sustainability policy. Identifies and coordinates related projects to support the policy such as energy reduction, recycling and promotion of sustainable packaging materials to our customers. Prepares reports on the status of the Sustainability initiative.

7. Works with the HR department to identify and implement policies and procedures to maintain a healthy work environment, particularly COVID-19 related.

8. Supports customer risk management requirements as identified by third party service providers on behalf of the customer related to EH&S. This could entail submitting data and reports, ensuring training is accomplished and other related activities.

9. Other tasks as assigned

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health or related field.

• Five years of related experience preferred.

• Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies

Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and policies Competencies: • Excellent written and verbal communication skill • Ability to problem solve using a structured approach

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail

• Proficient computer skills including MS Office Suite

• Some domestic travel to any of the (10) API branches
