Research Associate/ Senior Research Associate, Cell Biology at Abata Therapeutics

Abata Therapeutics is seeking a Research Associate/ Senior Research Associate with expertise in cellular biology and/or immunology to assist with development of engineered regulatory T cells. As part of an outstanding team of scientists, you will contribute to the development of a novel class of cell therapies for patients with unmet medical needs.

We view the candidate as an important team member whose contributions will be critical to our success in developing new therapeutics to improve the lives of patients.
Your responsibilities may include:
  • Designing and producing viruses for experimental use
  • Performing virus-mediated cellular transductions and/or gene editing technologies
  • Designing and executing cell-based assays
  • Discovering and characterizing components of novel cell therapies using cell culture, flow cytometry, molecular biology, and genetic engineering technologies
  • Establishing and performing in vitro assays for phenotypic and functional characterization of T cells
  • Helping build out a new lab and company from inception
  • BA, BS, or MS in Biology, Biomedical Science, or related field
  • 1-3 years industry experience
  • Strong background in cell biology, immunology, molecular biology, virology, biotechnology or related discipline
  • Experience with virus packaging, titration, and viral infection of cells for transduction
  • Expertise in in vitro cell-based assays, transfection of mammalian cells, flow cytometry, DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, RT-PCR, ELISA.
  • Experience in molecular biology techniques to generate engineered cell lines via viral transduction favorably considered
  • Hands on experience with primary immune cell-based assay is a plus
  • Highly motivated, innovative, well-organized, and dependable
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential given our collaborative approach
