+ This role will oversee our Manufacturing of Reagent Kits done in small batches in a laboratory setting.

Our focus as the EHS Specialist is to coordinate, assess, and own the EHS compliance and operational safety and environmental risks at four (4) SCIEX facilities in California.

Our position requires in-depth knowledge of EHS regulations and optimally integrate SCIEX global environmental and safety programs to ensure compliance with California regulations and corporate EHS standards. You will be responsible for coordinating EHS activities and program deployment between operational and support functions across several facilities.

This role will report directly to our Manager, Global EHS Governance with a dotted line reporting to our Sr. Director, Capillary Electrophoresis in Carlsbad, CA.

EHS Specialist duties are:

+ Coordinate daily management of EHS activities across four of our California sites. Support business teams through the development, deployment, and review of comprehensive EHS policies and programs.

+ Act as coach and mentor at all levels of the organization! Build a positive and proactive EHS culture!

+ Provide regulatory interpretation, guidance to support R&D, engineering, and manufacturing for current and future product development. Maintain facility licenses/permits as set by the State of California. Provide Health and Safety Committee leadership support, product compliance support, and technical oversight.

+ Be a champion of Danaher Business Systems driving improvements and ensuring sustainment. Lead, design, and deliver EHS compliance training to build functional competency.

+ Maintain facility laboratory safety programs, chemical inventory, and SDS database system. Conduct injury accidents and near-miss root cause investigations and countermeasures.

+ Coordinate Job Hazard Analysis documentation and employee training. Lead facility Emergency Response Team and provide EHS guidance to business managers on issues related to Business Continuity Planning.

+ Perform ergonomic assessments and develop strategies to reduce ergonomic risk. Conduct routine internal audits and inspections. Prepare monthly EHS metrics/KPIs and reports.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

+ Bachelor's degree in either Health/Safety sciences/engineering, Environmental sciences/engineering, or other nationally recognized base level qualification in EHS with minimum experience listed below.

+ 4-5 years EHS experience, including work in manufacturing operations and product engineering/R&D. Experience in life sciences and laboratory operations preferred.

+ Knowledge of Federal and State regulations pertaining to occupational safety and health and the environment. Conducting and handling risk assessment systems.

+ Strong understanding of the hierarchy of controls and risk reduction methods for manufacturing. Direct experience leading accident investigations, root cause analysis, and formal investigations.

+ Coordinating the work of third-party environmental consultants within budget restraints. Previous EHS auditing experience useful.

+ Travel is required 10-15%, North America.

Technical Skills

+ Digital literacy to include email and Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint

+ Thorough understanding of technical processes/issues associated with SCIEX site risks

+ Ability to efficiently and objectively lead in the investigation of a wide variety of incidents and analyze for root causes

+ Sound understanding of risk assessment methodologies applicable to EHS

+ Balance priorities and multiple demands while working in a fast-paced and changing environment. Responsible and driven to achieve set targets

+ Integrity, build trust with both management and colleagues.

+ Outstanding problem identification and problem-solving skills. Self-directed and a proven track record of balancing multiple demands at the same time.
