As part of the leadership of our Climate, Nature and Human Centered Design Studio in Los Angeles, the successful candidate will lead a growing team supporting our Clients through technical excellence and innovation in the fields of Regenerative and Nature-Based Design, De-carbonization and Greenhouse Gases, and climate change mitigation and adaptation.

The Climate, Nature and Human Centered Design Studio has been established in Los Angeles as a center of innovation and technical excellence for the West US in the delivery of Climate Positive, Nature Positive, and Human Centered project outcomes for our Clients and the communities we work in.

The role is based in Los Angeles but working with Clients and colleagues across the West US.

Within this role you will be responsible for the following tasks:
  • Lead development of regenerative and nature-based design strategies for clients in West US;
  • Advise on de-carbonization and GHG strategies including:
    • Life cycle assessments
    • Net zero emissions
    • GHG accounting
    • Energy efficiency
    • Advise on climate resilience and adaptation including:
    • Read and translate climate change data into impacts
    • Identify mitigation measures for communities and infrastructure
    • Conduct vulnerability assessments according to industry frameworks
  • Apply knowledge and understanding of net-zero, sustainability and climate change legislation;
  • Lead multidisciplinary teams to prepare and manage proposals and projects that involve working with colleagues across the region and globe;
  • Support the promotion of, and engage with clients on, the UN SDGs and other international sustainability frameworks and standards;
  • Establish and maintain client and stakeholder relationships in the sustainability and climate change community.
  • Develop thought leadership and engage with other professionals through social media, conference speaking, publications and press
  • Integrate with our North American and Global practices
Candidate Specification
The successful candidate will have:
  • A degree in architecture, engineering, environmental science, biology, planning, economics or equivalent;
  • 15+ years of experience with both public and private sector clients, specifically in the regenerative or nature based design, de-carbonization and GHG, climate change and/or green infrastructure sectors;
  • Expertise in preparing energy efficiency studies, de-carbonization retrofits, net-zero, sustainability design plans;
  • Full range of consultancy skills, including negotiating, presenting, budget management, team leadership and facilitating;
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to integrate into existing teams and work alongside colleagues of other disciplines;
  • Willingness to work across different sectors (built environment, transportation, energy and water engineering sectors);
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills in English;
  • ILFI, LEED, Envision or similar accreditation
  • Experience in renewable energy (geothermal, solar, wind) is a bonus.
