Adjunct faculty members are responsible for effectively planning and teaching courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences.

The major emphasis shall be on good teaching by working with students in classrooms, laboratories, individual conferences, and related activities-to help the student develop their interests and abilities to their fullest capacity to become a better person, a better worker, and a better citizen.

As a part of this primary responsibility, the College expects each faculty member to: meet assigned classes regularly; submit required records and reports routinely; teach the prescribed courses of study with the established texts; conduct requisite student conferences; hold required office hours; attend to assigned divisional and College duties; contribute to the development of the program of instruction; adhere to the statement on professional ethics in accordance with College policies, procedures, and regulations. Maintain current competence in the particular discipline or field of specialization and advise students.

Special Assignments   
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

KSA's/Required Qualifications   

Commitment to teaching excellence with an enthusiasm for teaching, the ability to work in a collegial manner with a highly diverse faculty, staff and student populations and the ability to teach in an urban community college setting.

Associate's in Automotive Technology with demonstrated competency in the automotive field. The applicant must also posses or be willing to pass ASE's in the field in which they will be teaching along with ASE G1 prior to teaching a class. They will also be required to complete 20 hours of automotive related training per year.

Experience with auto program student recruitment and placement; ASE Master Technician certified; 5 yrs. of current employment within the automotive field
