ECS is seeking a Space Environment Scientist to work in our Arlington, VA office.
Job Description:
The successful candidate will be mid to senior level and possess deep knowledge of the earth's atmospheric regions from the lower magnetosphere through the troposphere with broad knowledge in plasma physics, fluid dynamics, and electromagnetic interactions (primarily in the RF region). This role is a scientific role primarily supporting a portfolio of space environment and space atmospheric programs along with potential similar/follow-on projects. Additionally, experience or familiarity with multi-physics computational/numerical techniques and/or experience in near-earth space environment sensing would be useful. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following: technical evaluations, director level briefing preparation and report preparation, program administration including development of technical analyses, identification of technology gaps, technical risk management, project cost estimation, technology transfer efforts, attending and organizing program reviews/site visits/field tests.

Required Skills:
- Master's Degree
- Must be Clearance eligible
- Expertise and strong interest in earth atmospheric regions from lower magnetosphere through troposphere
- Broad knowledge in plasma physics, fluid dynamics, electromagnetic interactions (primarily in the RF region)
- Self-starter who is willing to both take the lead and provide support in a team role in a complex, fast-paced, cross-disciplinary work environment
- Strong organization skills with the ability to multi-task and respond to quick turn-around requests
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Project
- Ability to quickly learn unfamiliar areas of physics and engineering on a need be basis
- Demonstrated attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills - both written (to include PowerPoint) and oral
- Flexible and readily adaptable to change
Desired Skills:
- Previous experience with geophysical community or DARPA
