Summary

My client is a Food manufacture that sells into Sprouts and other retail grocers. Having just obtained a generous amount in funding to get them to the next level, the EHS Manager will play an instrumental part in this. You will be spearheading the company in the right direction and ensuring compliance on a county, state and federal level.

Client Details

The Environmental Health and Safety Manager will be directly responsible to inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment, and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with government safety regulations and industry standards. Their chief goal is to protect the employees, customers, and the environment, while contributing with their expertise to the COO and President of the company!

Description
  • Must have the ability to strategically develop, maintain, follow up and complete projects on time and will be highly motivated to continuously seek ways to improve standards and processes
  • Develops and implements inspection policies and procedures, and a schedule of routine inspections
  • Develops health and safety procedures for all areas of the company
  • Prepares and schedules training to cover emergency procedures, workplace safety, and other relevant topics
  • Monitors compliance with safety procedures
  • Drafts inspections reports to document inspection findings
  • Ensures that safety data sheets are maintained and readily accessible when needed
  • Maintains records of discharge of or employee exposure to hazardous waste and/or pollutants, as required
  • Remain current on all regulatory requirements and law changes
  • Provide solid leadership & strong effective communication among direct team members and across department personnel
  • Assist with the development of strong effective training programs, coaching and mentoring
  • Set and enforce standards for health and safety during operations
  • Facilitate proactive solutions by analyzing data
  • Prepare and present reports to update upper management on health and safety projects
  • Must observe all safety rules and wear all safety equipment provided or required by the company
  • Manage safety coordinator responsibilities and daily functions

Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field required; or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in food manufacturing and experience as a environmental health and safety manager or relevant role is required
  • Extensive knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and policies
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections
  • Knowledge in self, 2nd and 3rd Party Auditing
  • Ability to work independently; or as part of a team; has good reasoning abilities and demonstrates sound judgment
  • Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize important projects
  • Works well under pressure and meets tight deadlines
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt, troubleshoot, research solutions, and make recommendations to improve work efficiencies
