MAHLE Engine Components, St. Johns- MI is in search of a hard-working, eager to learn individual for our HSE Intern opening! This position can either be part-time or full-time depending on your school schedule.
The HSE Intern will assist the Health, Safety, and Environmental Coordinator who is accountable to plan, direct, and implement organization safety and environmental programs and to ensure a safe and healthy work environment for all employees.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties as assigned.
• Assist with planning and implementation of safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) rules and regulations.
• Plans and implements programs to train managers and employees in work site safety practices, environmental issues, fire prevention, ergonomics, and correct handling techniques for chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials.
• Inspects organization facilities to detect existing or potential accident and health hazards, determines corrective or preventative measures where indicated, and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.
• Provides information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
• Assists in the investigation of accidents and injuries and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
• Assist with compiling and submitting accident reports required by regulatory agencies.
• Prepares and arranges safety exhibits and material for display, promotional work, industry conferences, and exhibitions.
• Could represent the organization in community or industry safety groups and programs.
• Assist with internal compliance auditing in accordance with the MAHLE Engine Components, Inc. - Environmental, Health and Safety standard.
• Assists with reports on the safety metrics to top management for review and as a basis for improvement of the safety system.
• Maintain environmental records for all applicable raw materials and products, such as Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
Rate of pay will be $17.00 per hour.
