Scientist II, Cell Biology

PDS Tech, Inc. is seeking a Scientist II, Cell Biology in Frederick, MD.

Description:

• Responsible for identifying and developing novel technologies for incorporation into new products, generating application data, and supporting marketing initiatives
• The individual will be expected to conduct scientific research individually and as part of cross-functional development teams

Essential Functions:

• The successful candidate will have a strong background in cell culture and experience with culturing a variety of cell lines and/or primary cells
• The ideal candidate will also have familiarity with handling primary tissue, the evaluation of cells by microscopy, flow cytometry, Western blot, gene expression, or similar techniques
• An innovative and curious mindset, attention to detail, and ability to multitask while maintaining a results-oriented focus are essential
• The candidate will be required to maintain accurate lab notebooks and training files in accordance with relevant client standards to support patent application and defense as well as other international standards (e.g., ISO compliance, GLP/GMP requirements, etc.)

Typical requirements include:

• Maintenance of primary cell and cell line cultures
• Characterization of active cultures by microscopy, flow cytometry, or next-generation sequencing
• Preparation and presentation of experimental data summaries
• Interaction with scientists in other business units to troubleshoot problems and identify new opportunities

Education:

• Strong background in cell culture with a Masters degree in Biology, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or a related discipline plus 0-2 years experience
• Candidate may also have a Bachelors degree plus 2-5 years experience

Experience:

• Must have strong cell culture experience (cell lines, primary cells, 2D & 3D culture)
• Ideal candidate may also have experience with handling of primary tissue and evaluation of cultures via microscopy and image analysis, Western blot, flow cytometry, or gene expression
• Excellent time management skills and multi-tasking capabilities
• Excellent organizational skills
