Arconic is currently in search of an Environmental Engineer to join our Global Rolled Products (GRP) business unit in Alcoa, TN. Arconics Tennessee Operations, is one of the most modern aluminum fabricating facilities in the world. Our plants produce high-quality molten metal and aluminum sheet and are recognized as a world leader in the business. The facility has been located at the Foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains for 100 years and continues to thrive and grow.

The objective of the Environmental Engineer is to ensure that equipment and plant practices conform to corporate environmental policy and federal, state and local regulations in a cost-effective manner to reduce or eliminate environmental impacts. The incumbent will be accountable for coordinating and auditing plant systems that ensure compliance with applicable air, water, wastewater, waste and chemical requirements while providing guidance and support to plant personnel that perform the day-to-day performance of permit activities within their respective departments. The primary program focus of this position will be water and/or waste management programs. Additionally, the Environmental Engineer will assist his/her supervisor with the development strategies and plans for Tennessee Operations.
This role is primarily day shift, Monday-Friday. However, there is potential for the incumbent to work off-shifts as needed to support the functions of this role and take calls as first line help chain during off-shifts.
Responsibilities

* Develops, recommends, and implements programs for an environmental media (specifically water and/or waste) to assure compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations including documentation, reporting, permitting, and training.
* Participates and leads the development of projects to improve program compliance, minimize costs, and investigate, evaluate, and implement new approaches to ensure long term compliance and sustainability of the location.
* Identifies potential environmental compliance issues/program deficiencies and works with the areas to develop solutions for these issues.
* Maintain ISO 14001 certification for the location through audit and program guidance in the areas.
* Assess environmental impacts/aspects of new equipment and operational changes.
* Train and coach line organization on environmental issues.
* Implement and utilize environmental data management systems for water and waste programs.
* Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations and identify all future requirements that apply, or may apply, to the facility.

Qualifications - External
Basic Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or other relevant field from an accredited institution.
* Minimum 2 years of related experience.
* Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Advanced degree in Environmental, Chemical, or Civil Engineering or other relevant field from an accredited institution.
* 5+ years of related experience.
* Experience in manufacturing or industrial environment.
* Broad knowledge of local, state, federal programs and regulations relating to environmental
* Knowledge of Arconic EHS regulations and standards.
* Previous experience in acquisition of permits and interaction with regulators.
* Proficient in environmental data management systems.
* Experience with lean manufacturing techniques.
* Ability to effectively work with cross functional teams.
* Ability to lead and drive cultural change in a positive manner, influencing others on new concepts
* Ability to prioritize and complete multiple and diverse work assignments with minimal direction.
* Skills such as: Written and oral communications skills in a variety of settings (shop floor, peers, plant leadership, etc.), problem solving, execution, attention to detail, initiative, conflict resolution, customer focus, collaboration, building ownership and commitment, developing others, establishing and direction, drive for change, tenacity, obtaining organization support, and human relations.
