OVERVIEW:

This is a cross functional position where candidates will spend time working in sample receiving, sample prep and Real-Time PCR sample analysis. Candidates will spend time working each position depending on daily sample load.

We are seeking a highly motivated candidate to join a new lab operation to support molecular sample analysis in Georgetown, KY.

Hours: 2nd shift (hours are 6pm-4:30am). This person will work 4 days a week, 10 hour days (Monday through Thursday)

Note: This position does not require patient contact.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Performs routine sample receiving, prep and analysis in a BSL-2 lab
* Perform manual pipetting with multi-channel pipettes and aliquotting of samples
* Operate and monitor automated instrumentation including PCR
* Perform assays and preventative maintenance on Quant 7 Real-Time PCR instruments
* Participates in the training of new employees
* Review and log results into a database
* Follows policies and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
QUALIFICATIONS:
* AA or BS degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biology, Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Science
* Must be comfortable wearing appropriate PPE and working in a BSL-2 level lab for the duration of the shift
* Experience working with DNA/RNA and analyzing samples on the PCR, RT-PCR and/or qPCR (experience with Quant 7 a plus)
* Experience with aseptic technique and wet lab techniques
* Strong manual dexterity for high volume pipetting activities using multi-channel pipettes
* Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
* The individual should be self-motivated, ambitious, hard working, and able to work independently with an eye for detail
* Must be able to multitask efficiently and work in a fast-paced environment
