Job Description:
We Are!The Berger laboratory is a group of experimental and computational scientists dedicated to the characterization of genetic mutations in human tumors in order to identify biomarkers of cancer progression and drug response. Using massively parallel next-generation DNA and RNA sequencing, the lab is developing and applying methods to profile individual patient-derived specimens including tumor tissue and circulating tumor DNA for somatic base mutations and other genomic aberrations that may influence response to therapy.We are thrilled to be looking for an outstanding Computational Biologist with a curiosity about performing computational oncology research with questions centered around understanding the patients tumors, their responses to treatment and mechanisms of disease progression. The candidate will work well with and learn from investigators with expertise in computational biology, genomic technologies, molecular pathology, and clinical oncology.You Are!Committed to applying genomic techniques for clinical benefit.Highly organized and self-directed scientist who enjoys working in a team, can manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and can solve problems independently.Experienced in both experimental and computational cancer genomic methodologies.Passionate about science with a desire to impact cancer and advance care for patients.You Will:Be an integral team meperforminguting hypothesis driven research in translational computational oncology.Directly collaborate with clinical and translational researchers to address key clinical and biological questions.Perform data analysis and interpretation for molecular profiling based clinical and research experiments.Work with additional teams within the CMO in developing computational tools and methodologies to be widely used within the institution.Present results and progress updates at lab meetings, CMO meetings, to collaborating clinicians/researchers and outside conferences (if desired).Contribute to work that will be central to several major projects for which co-authorship is encouraged.You Have:Experience in cancer biology, genetics, computational biology, or a related field.At least 2 years of experience in academic or corporate research.Familiarity with fundamental concepts and background in cancer biology researchHands-on experience managing, curating and analyzing large biological datasetsWorking knowledge and application of basic statistics in biological data analysisFamiliarity with genomics pipelines and standard methodologies of analyzing next generation sequencing data (WES, WGS or RNA-seq, etc)Knowledge of bioinformatics concepts, methods, and tools.Ability to solve sophisticated problems individually and as part of a team.Strong interpersonal and troubleshooting abilities, attention to detail and accuracy, and outstanding oral and written communication skills.Preferred QualificationsMS or PhD in cancer biology, genetics, computational biology, or a related field.Extensive experience in cancer biology and cancer genomic analysis.Benefits Competitive compensation packages | Sick Time |Generous Vacation+ 12 holidays to recharge & refuel| Internal Career Mobility & Performance Consulting | Medical, Dental, Vision, FSA & Dependent Care|403b Retirement Savings Plan Match|Tuition Reimbursement |Parental Leave & Adoption Assistance |Commuter Spending Account |Fitness Discounts Program | Resource Networks| Life Insurance & Disability | Remote FlexibilityWe believe in communication, openness, and thinking beyond your 8-hour day @ MSK.
