Summary
This position supports site environmental compliance with federal, state, local statutes and regulations. The role is responsible for the management and completion of all permit compliance requirements, paperwork and reporting.
Major Tasks Include:
* Ensure compliance with air, waste, and/or water regulations
* Perform inspections and incident investigations, conduct audits, prepare reports, handle facility permitting, and interact with regulatory agencies, consultants, and vendors
* Perform record keeping and documentation
* Execute and manage permitting and regulatory compliance associated with operations
* Serve as an advisor for site environmental issues
* Serve as environmental advisor for site projects and manage changing processes
* Provide technical guidance to enhance operations
* Assist operations with implementation of policies and Environmental Standard Operating Procedures
* Prepare reports, plans, and permits required to comply with federal, state, local statues and regulations, SARA 312, SARA 313, Emissions Inventory, etc.
* Collect samples, data, conduct analyses, and prepare calculations required for reports and plans
* Perform environmental audits and field inspections
* Assist with EPA, TCEQ, and other regulatory agency inspections and information requests
* Participate in environmental regulatory inspections
* Prepare reports detailing audit findings and recommend changes in operations to ensure compliance
* Perform environmental compliance audits and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations
* Prepare and ensure compliance with various environmental permits and related plans, including, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Spill Prevention, Control and Counter measures (SPCC) plans, Pollution Prevention Plans, etc.
* Assist with coordination off-site transportation, disposal, treatment, or recycling of waste
* Assist in training site staff on responsibilities associated with sound environmental stewardship
* Serve as a member of 24/7 Emergency Response Team
* Other duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
* Must be at least 18 years of age
* Must be legally authorized to work in the country of employment without needing sponsorship for employment visa status, now or in the future
* Bachelor's degree or four years of work experience
* Two years or more of previous environmental experience
Other Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Environmental Sciences or a related field preferred
* Practical experience with air, water, and waste permitting
* Knowledge of federal and state environmental, safety and health regulations- USEPA, TCEQ, OSHA, and corresponding local agencies
* Experience interpreting local, state, and federal environmental standards and implementing regulatory requirements preferred
* Strong project management skills, time management, organization, and effective and efficient multi-tasking
* Chemical or paint manufacturing experience preferred
* Proficient computer skills and experience using MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
* Interpersonal skills to work successfully within a team-based system
* Strong oral and written communication skills and must be able to effectively present information to others
* Proven leadership skill and team building skills, ability to build consensus, rally support around common goals, and to motivate groups and individuals
* Ability to be flexible, work with interruptions, and shift priorities in a changing environment
* Willingness to work weekend and nights shifts as needed
* Strong project management skills, time management, organization, and effective and efficient multi-tasking
