We invite you to join our Adjunct Faculty in the Bachelor of Science in Biology program. To teach in our program, you must have a terminal or advanced degree in Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, or a related field. We are searching for instructors who can teach courses in The Bachelor of Science in Biology, focusing on the analysis of biotechnology-related information using software tools to store, manipulate, and extract information from protein and nucleic acid sequence data. Topics include genome annotation, gene and protein prediction, sequence alignment, and analysis of aligned sequences in the description of patterns of protein or species relationships and gene expression.

Note: This part-time Adjunct Faculty position will be teaching two 4-week hybrid (online and onsite in San Diego) courses that run concurrently.

Essential Job Duties:
  • Lead classroom sessions on-site and/or online according to university policies
  • Provide expertise in assigned content area by maintaining current knowledge in the field
  • Respond to student needs in a timely fashion or typically within 48 hours
  • Provide substantive feedback to students, grade assignments, and post grades
  • Participate in online class discussion boards
  • Emphasize student-centered learning by promoting student inquiries and encouraging participation in their own learning
  • Maintain a positive, safe, student-centric learning environment

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, or a related field
  • 2 years' experience teaching at the college level
  • Proficiency in R, Python, or both
  • Must reside and be eligible to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Terminal degree (PhD) in Biology, Chemistry, Bioinformatics, or a related field
  • Experience teaching online
