Seeking a highly motivated scientist to join a growing R&D team in Chicago. Our ideal candidate possesses a strong background studying RNA Biology in a preclinical R&D setting and thrives in a fast paced, team oriented environment.

What You Will Be Doing

* Acting as lead scientist on RNA biology focused studies and projects
* Designing, executing, and interpreting experiments centered on creating oligonucleotide therapeutics using proprietart SNA technology
* Identifying biological interactions of oligonucleotides, including subcellular distribution, protein interactions, in vivo biodistribution and measures of toxicity in vitro and in vivo
* Assessing structure activity relationships (SAR) of varying oligonucleotide therapeutics
* Determining oligonucleotide mechanisms of action (MoA), including RNase H-mediated knockdown, splice-switching, steric blocking, and RNAi
* Designing and managing experiments to assess in vivo biodistribution, delivery, efficacy and translation of in vitro MoA and SAR results and assays
* Serving as subject matter expert and internal resource for RNA biology considerations
* Developing, validating and implementing assays as required to accomplish research goals
* Presenting data internally and at scientific conferences

What You Need for this Position

* Ph.D in chemistry, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field
* Industry experience in a biotech or pharmaceutical environment
* Strong expertise in mRNA and DNA isolation (cells/tissue), characterization and quantification techniques
* Expertise with mammalian cell culture (primary and immortalized lines
* Familiarity with antisense, siRNA and related therapeutic approaches
* Experience studying RNA biology in a preclinical R&D setting
* Experience with cell-based assay development for mechanism of action studies and structure activity relationships
* Strong proficiency in data analysis, statistics, and presentation
