Postdoc Biologist

Humanwell's Drug Discovery program focuses on the invention of novel bioactive molecules in the areas of analgesia, anesthesia, and CNS diseases. The company is currently looking for a highly motivated postdoc biologist/biochemist with background in analgesia, anesthesia, and CNS areas. Candidates with background in autoimmune diseases, dermatology, and reproductive health will also be considered. The selected candidate will work in a multidisciplinary team environment with the goal of identifying drug candidate compounds for clinical trials.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
? Support projects with target biology and benefit/risk assessment. Strategies include extensive review of literature as well as experimental approaches.
? Independently design, execute and analyze the studies for the assessment of target engagement, and mechanism of action for clinical assets.
? Manage contract research organizations in assay development and transfer, as well as monitor ongoing external studies.
? Work effectively with other disciplines, including medicinal chemistry, cell biology, DMPK, and safety/tox to collectively build the preclinical data package for clinical candidate nomination.
? Identify and recommend new technologies to improve workflow, and keep general awareness of drug discovery and development process.
The ideal candidate would be able to work independently, demonstrate flexibility, and a willingness to work as a member of a large cross-functional team.
Required Education and Qualification
? Recent PhD graduate in biochemistry or molecular biology with experiences in the analgesia, anesthesia, and CNS field is preferred.
? Proficiency in molecular biology techniques, including PCR, vector and primer design, DNA and protein sequence analysis, recombinant protein expression and affinity purification.
? Experience with preclinical assay development and validation, including but not limited to high throughput screening, biochemical/biophysical and cell-based techniques.
? Strong communication and organizational skills, attention to details.
? Candidates with research background in autoimmune diseases, dermatology, and reproductive health will also be considered.
