Associate Data Scientist, Computational Biology
Job Summary:
The Associate Data Scientist, Computational Biology is responsible for supporting collaborations. This role requires familiarity with biological interpretation of high-plex molecular data and experience with data analysis. This person will be expected to execute pre-specified analyses to support collaborations with external partners to drive projects to presentation and publication. In addition, this person will work with a team to extend analysis pipelines and tools and potentially future platforms. They will work with research scientists and/or biostatisticians to execute projects. This person is expected to have strong verbal and written communication skills and will work as part of team while executing experimental analyses with supervision.
Essential Functions:
Execute spatial transcriptomic analyses generated by collaborators and customers on platforms
Work with scientific lead to interpret results within context of biological implications for the project
Present results findings via written and oral reports to technical and non-technical audiences; participate in scientific discussions
Work with a team of other bioinformaticians and biostatisticians to contribute to pipelines for analysis of data
Maintain well annotated code and detailed records of analyses
Qualifications:
BS with 3-8 years, or MS with 0-3+ years relevant experience with background in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Genomics, or related field
Familiarity with multi-omics datasets such as transcriptomics or proteomics
Experience with scripting languages for data science, especially R, including commonly used statistical approaches for genomics data
Experience with version control workflows such as git preferred
Domain knowledge within a relevant biological area (oncology, immunology, etc.) required
Good communication skills; ability to present scientific data for an expert and non-expert audience
Excellent organizational skills, and good time management practices; ability to communicate timelines and meet deadlines
Ability to work as member of a project team
