New York City-Based Position for Computational Biologist

Do you have the quantitative and computer science skills to make a difference in cancer precision medicine?

DarwinHealth (www.darwinhealth.com) is leveraging breakthrough discoveries and novel systems biology methodologies to implement a radically new approach for precision-focused cancer medicine, making patient- and tumor-specic targeted therapy a practical reality for virtually every cancer patient. By leveraging the cutting-edge regulatory networks technics developed in Dr. Califano's Lab at Columbia University, DarwinHealth identifies the oncoprotein modules driving the tumorigenic cell state (tumor CheckPoint) and the best pharmacological approaches to target them.

What you'll do:

Work in a rapidly evolving company as an integral member of a multi-diplicinary team of outstanding professionals committed to change the history of cancer treatment.

Develop and use computational and systems biology approaches to prioritize treatment decisions for patients with cancer.

Independently develop and implement analytical pipelines, for use in research and in production.

Create, maintain and query large pharmaco-genomic databases.

Deploy computation across multi-node high performance distributed computing platforms.

Implement rigorous quality control strategies to support the production of robust, clinical-grade results.

Keep detailed record of your activities and transmit results and ideas with clarity and technical rigor.

Position reports directly to the Chief Scientific Officer.

Qualifications:

PhD, MS, or equivalent experience in statistics, computer science, bioinformatics or related field.

Significant quantitative training in probability, statistics and machine learning, ensemble methods, data exploration and visualization.

Significant analytical development and programming skills in R.

Experience in other languages is a plus: Python, Perl, JAVA, as well as LaTEX.

Experience in database organization and maintenance, specially MySQL.

Experience working in Linux and running tasks in a distributed HPC environment.

Experience in genomics is a plus, especially with next-generation sequencing data processing and modeling.

Goal-oriented thinking and ability to work collegially in teams.

Great problem solving skills.

Self-driven, creative and works well in an interdisciplinary team with minimal oversight.

Ability to communicate clearly, presenting insights and concepts to a diverse audience.
