Position Overview

We are looking for a Research Associate with experience in cell biology, molecular biology and assay development to play a key technical role as a member of the Biology team. The individual will be responsible for conducting cell-based assays and should be proficient in a variety of common laboratory techniques including mammalian cell culture, immunocytochemistry, western blot, ELISA, RT PCR/Taqman, and MSD. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, have strong attention to detail, able to work independently and in a team, and committed to generating high-quality data.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Execute cell-based assays, generating high quality data to evaluate therapeutic candidates and investigate compound mechanism of action
  • Assist in the development and optimization of new cell-based assays
  • Perform experiments assisting the scientific team with cell culture, gene expression, fluorescence microscopy, and flow cytometry analysis
  • Maintain cell lines and prepare cell culture reagents (e.g. media, compound dilution plates)
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment, order supplies and update inventory
  • Maintain up to date, detailed experimental records
  • Effectively communicate with team members to promote an efficient and collaborative environment


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • BS or MS in life sciences with 3+ years industry experience
  • Excellent sterile technique for immortal and primary cell culture; experience in a BSL2+ environment a plus, experience with iPS neuronal cell models a plus
  • Working hands-on experience in a range of methodologies including immunocytochemistry, MSD, Western blot, RT-PCR/Taqman, ELISA, PCR, mammalian cell transfection
  • Experience with cell-based assay development
  • Flexibility to support work across the Biology team
  • Prior experience in a relevant industrial drug discovery setting is highly desirable
  • The candidate will be a highly motivated and reliable individual with demonstrated capacity to learn and perform with precision
  • Willing to work a limited number of hours during weekends
  • Must be legally able to work in the US
