**Job Description**
**PURPOSE** : Assist Environmental Impact staff with compliance monitoring activities at DPC's power plants and coal ash landfills. This will include CWA Section 316(a)/(b) sampling at the Alma, surface water monitoring at the Alma and FHS sites, and fish sampling at the Alma and FHS sites. Additional field work related to the permitting of Dairyland's transmission projects may also be included. The position will include field data entry and database management. Other work will include assisting with DPC's environmental stewardship program.
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:**
**Education & Experience** : Completion of two (2) years in biology program (prefer environmental biology).Prefer classes in aquatic biology, limnology, and basic chemistry.
**Skills:** Must possess mechanical skills and be able to operate a small motor boat. Ability to trailer boats desirable. Must have knowledge of environmental sampling equipment, e.g., pH meters, flow meters, conductivity meters, DO meters, etc. Must have knowledge of computers, e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, etc.
**Licenses and Certifications:** Valid Driver's License.
**Physical Demands:** Position requires standing, walking, kneeling, crouching, squatting, crawling, climbing hand over hand, and reaching to collect samples. Must twist upper body, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs. to load and unload the truck and boat. Must be able to swim.
**Environmental Demands** : Majority of time is spent outdoors, occasionally around dust and mechanical, electrical, and chemical hazards and extreme noise. Ability to work in inclement weather and walk on uneven terrain. May include travel to Alma, Genoa, and Ladysmith including some overnights. Ability to work independently.
