JUNIOR AQUATIC SCIENTIST

OVERVIEW / RESPONSIBILITIES
Wood is looking for a motivated individual to assist scientists within our well-established Aquatic Sciences Group located in San Diego, CA. This position will require weekend work or overtime hours at times depending on a fluctuating schedule. Innovative ideas, curiosity, a team-oriented attitude, and a strong work ethic are required.
The ideal candidate will have recent experience supporting field monitoring programs in the aquatic environment and/or experience working in an environmental laboratory setting. Familiarity with local and national monitoring regulations; the use of field collection monitoring devices; environmental lab testing techniques; ability to follow strict QA/QC procedures; and knowledge of data analysis, statistical procedures, and mapping is desired. Strong writing skills are required.
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
* 0-5 years of experience
* BS in Aquatic Sciences, Toxicology, Chemistry, Ecology, or Marine Biology
* Knowledge of local NPDES programs, the Clean Water Act Sections 401 and 404; the Porter-Cologne Act; the Marine Protection, Research, and Sanctuaries Act; the Coastal Zone Management Act; Stormwater programs; and other applicable local, state, and federal regulations and guidance is a plus.
