Microbiology Laboratory Technician position will be under the direct supervision and guidance of the Laboratory Director in conducting analytical testing. This position is in a food manufacturing environment located in Gilroy, CA.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Obtain samples from production areas and conduct general food microbiology, environmental, and pathogen testing
  • Process samples from receipt through testing, including all associated documentation and record-keeping including data entry
  • Interpret and record results for quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Perform various laboratory tasks, including but not limited to sample preparation, handling, dilutions, or media preparations
  • Assist with non-routine physical analysis tasks, experiments, and product development related support as needed
  • Communicate testing results with the quality department and/or other departments as needed
  • Maintain compliance with ISO 17025 standards and the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Adhere to and models good manufacturing practices (GMP) and good laboratory practices (GLP)
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment at all times

Skills / Qualifications:
  • BA/BS degree in food science, chemistry, biological science, or related field is required
  • 1-2 years' experience in food analysis, laboratory, and basic knowledge of microbiology
  • Prior QA/QC experience in food manufacturing is a plus
  • Proficient in MS Office; Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Must be capable of demonstrating physical demands of typical laboratory
  • Good listening and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and to be able to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
  • Must be comfortable and able to work with all types of ingredients, spices food components which include allergens (meat, nuts dairy eggs, etc.)
