Join Cardno's Science and Environment team and primarily support our Wisconsin and Minnesota clients while playing an integral role in providing project management and overall environmental consulting and science support for wetland, threatened and endangered species, and environmental permitting and compliance.

Job Description:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Managing client needs related to supporting a diverse suite of projects.
  • Experience supporting utility, transportation, state and federal natural resource agencies, engineering, and municipal clients.
  • Managing multiple projects at a time, including adhering to client expectations on deliverables, timelines, and budgets.
  • Conducting professional wetland delineations according to the USACE Wetland Determination Manual (1987) and corresponding supplements. Botanical skills identifying native and non-native species and experience using USACE Wetland Delineation Supplements in the upper Midwest preferred.
  • Experience conducting scientific studies and field surveys such as Floristic Quality Assessments, invasive species surveys, botanical inventories, wildlife surveys, or hydrologic evaluations.
  • Quality control reviews, and/or preparation of, professional technical reports.
  • Knowledge of USACE, Wisconsin DNR, Minnesota DNR, PSCW, and MPUC regulatory processes.
  • Preparation of Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control (SESC) and Stormwater and Erosion Control permit applications.
  • Representation of Cardno at client meetings, technical workshops, and conferences through public presentations.
  • Overnight travel/flexible for multiple days of travel away from home office.
  • Involvement in at least one local/state conservation group and growth to a leadership position.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher
  • Minimum 5 years (8+ years preferred) of experience working in environmental or natural resources, consulting, or time working in the target industries is preferred
  • Ability to conduct overnight travel
  • Flexibility to work 8-12 hour days, seasonally
  • Ability to demonstrate technical leadership skills in one or more of the following areas: wetland science, plant identification, wildlife surveys, habitat assessments, regulatory compliance, planning, and permitting support
  • Proficient at technical writing and formatting
  • Willingness to assist with business development
  • Good oral and written communication with clients, supervisors, and staff
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and Teams software, and demonstrated ability to learn new or different software required for job duties.
