The Center for Public Health Genomics at the University of Virginia is looking to hire a bioinformatics lab specialist. The lab specialist will be responsible for assisting the PI, Dr. Chongzhi Zang, and postdoctoral associates in the lab to implement bioinformatics algorithms and to use integrative computational approaches for processing and analyzing bulk and single-cell multi-omics sequencing data for the studies of epigenetics and transcriptional regulation in mammalian model systems.
Minimum Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, statistics, or a related major.
2. At least one-year research experience in high-throughput genomics data analysis.
3. Proficient in Python and R programming.
4. Working knowledge of molecular biology and genomics.
5. Excellent academic communication skills and teamwork skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Master's degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, statistics, or a related field.
2. At least Two-year research experience in high-throughput genomics data analysis, especially analyzing single-cell RNA-seq and single-cell ATAC-seq data.
3. Proficient in Python and R programming; experience in database and software development.
4. Working knowledge of molecular biology and genomics.
5. Excellent academic communication skills and teamwork skills.
